Remember when Jesus rebuked Peter? Let’s review:

Matthew 16:21 – “From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” But He turned and said to Peter, Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but things of men.”


The Means of Success

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

These are the words of Jesus. He has a clear message and direction for us as we go throughout our lives. As our loving King, He truly wants us to be successful. One of His great secrets lies within this passage. Earlier in John chapter 16, from verses 16 to 28, Jesus is sharing with His disciples about His death and resurrection. In His typical fashion, Jesus doesn’t spell it out “quite that simply” for His disciples and they are a bit confused. Jesus helps them with their understanding and they come to a place of faith in verse 30. They believe!! Jesus immediately throws them another “curve ball” by declaring that they will scatter and leave Him alone. While I am sure the disciples were confused by this statement, Jesus is not bothered by it at all. He is not perplexed that they will leave Him alone. His stance on this comes at the end of verse 32 when He states, “And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.” Herein lies the secret and the means of success while living in this world. […]
